The title itself gives the readers a good view of what the author's purpose for writing this article is, to bash Trump and his presidency. Although during this article the author does appeal to pathos by stating how being sued would feel. This rhetorical device provokes the readers strongest emotions, sadness and fear. Because the author does this the reader is much more involved and understands how this impacts Trump's presidency overall. The way that the author uses hostile words gives hints that she is politically sided with the democratic party or just hates Trump in general. Using words such as 'dishonest' and 'railing' which are both aggressive words. The author sets up her argument by giving background information of how Robert Mercer is connected with Trump. She then goes to talk about how Mercer is being sued for racist comments and connects it back to Trump and his views overall. She does allude to other comments recorded by the Wall Street Journal which allows for more backed up information about other racist comments made.
