Oh my lord. Just realized i have not sent out my streaks on Snapchat brb. Bess Levin the author of these articles seems to not have an interest in this topic other than being informational focused. Little emotions appear in order to give a hint at what her purpose was for writing this as well as her opinion on the topic.
Okay so, this article uses simple diction towards its' targeted audience, the common people. While this is a business related article, I think that because the author uses simple words such as plummeted and lost it is more focused towards people who may use Snapchat or even those who own Snapchat stocks. Another way that the author gets her point across is by using evidence pulled from the Wall Street Journal. By doing this it provides the readers with more background information on the topic allowing for a more in depth analyzation of the Snapchat loss. The author appeals to logos by giving statistics on how much money was lost ($2.21 billion). By doing this the author creates an image of exactly how serious this is for the intended audience.
The author organizes this article by talking about how much money was lost but then goes into previous companies and how they dealt with the same problems as Snapchat. Levin brings in comments that Zuckerberg, the creator of Facebook, and how back in 2012 they ran into the same problem. Levin then goes on to talk about how they could use these previous companies failures as advice so the company can flourish. These comments at the end add a sort of optimistic tone to the author's purpose, like she does not want Snapchat to go away.
