What's So Funny?
What better way to start my blog then to talk about a walking orange. Graydon Carter, the author of the article, "The Trump Presidency is Already a Joke", uses elevated diction to hit the Trump presidency hard. Graydon is obviously apposed to Trump's presidency because Graydon uses words and phrases such as "preening narcissist", "chaos" and "destructiveness" to hammer his point across. The title of the article may mislead people into thinking this article is just going to make fun of Trump, but once you read the author's diction creates a very serious tone. When Graydon uses words such as "grimace " and "frustrated" allows the reader to understand Graydon's tone. He is very serious about Trump being a hot head and that he may lead to world chaos. Trump may be the laughing stock of all Presidents but the choices and power surrounding Trump could lead to World War III.
I did some background research on Graydon Carter and found out that he is a regular journalist on Vanity Fair, I also found out that Carter co-founded the magazine and or blog site called "The Spy". Carter establishes credibility and appeals to ethos because he is a credited journalist and specializes in politics and the article he is writing is politics heavy.
Graydon's purpose for writing this article is to prove that Trump may be the laughing stock of America but the power that he holds along with his temper is a very bad combination. He seems to have wrote this article to prove to the common man that Trump needs to be taken seriously and cannot be pissed off too much. Of course one can always poke a little bit of fun at the President of the United States.
